Con Edison Steam Plant Tour
When: Wednesday, March 27th (6-8PM)
Where: 506 East 75th Street between York Avenue and the FDR Drive
Con Edison supports a 105-mile steam-distribution system, providing steam to customers throughout Manhattan for heating, air conditioning, humidification, and sterilization, among other uses. Customers range from the Empire State Building, to the Guggenheim Museum, to the New York Stock Exchange. The 74th
Street Steam-Generating Station is one of the facilities in this system, distributing steam to Con Edison’s Upper East Side and Midtown Manhattan
customers. This station has both low-pressure package boilers and high-pressure boilers.
Safety Requirements: All visitors MUST wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and long sleeves. Con Edison will provide hardhats, safety glasses, and ear protection.
This event is only open to the first 20 members who respond. Please email friedmanra@coned.com if you would like to attend. A happy hour will follow.
March of Dimes NYC and Albany
When:Sunday, April 28th – 10AM
Where: NYC – 62nd Street and Columbus Avenue
Albany - 1400 Washington Avenue (University at Albany)
In 2012, over seven million walkers and volunteers in more than 900 communities raised over $100 million to benefit the March of Dimes. The dollars raised support programs of research, advocacy, community programs and education to help promote healthy pregnancies and healthy babies for all families.
