The WICE Board is pleased to announce that the next conference will be on Feb. 8, 2007 at Con Edison’s corporate headquarters at 4 Irving Place.
Judy Lee, Diane Burman, Marie Thompson and Victoria Simon have been working with Carol Monti Barris on the topics and speakers.
For the morning portion of the event, Rita Murray will discuss “How to Survive and Thrive in a Multi-Generational World.” Rita, who recently spoke at Con Edison’s Annual Safety Conference, is a first-generation American, who owns two national businesses, has authored multiple books and speaks regularly about creating great places to work where individuals are recognized for the unique contributions they make. She is very engaging and will likely involve audience participation. The feedback she received on one of the most critical topics that we face not only professionally but also personally was very positive and well received by all audience participants.
Kate Ascher, Executive Vice President of Infrastructure at the New York City Economic Development Corporation and author of “The Works: Anatomy of a City” will be our keynote luncheon speaker. Victoria Simon, who is now Assistant Vice President of Energy and Telecommunications for the New York City Economic Development Corporation, will introduce Kate. Kate’s insider’s view and her unique knowledge of how a city of eight million residents and roughly a million commuters continues to run smoothly promise to be a fascinating story.
The afternoon session will be a panel of present and past women Commissioners speaking to their experiences, their professional and personal issues/challenges and their legacies. Invitations are being extended to all 10 women and several have already agreed, including our very own Board Member, Maureen Helmer, former PSC Chair. This promises to be a provocative discussion, including voices currently on the Commission and those from prior times. This panel will be moderated by Judy Lee.
In addition, Seven Blessings, a women-owned jewelry business who joined WICE at the Spring Conference, will be again be partnering with us. They will donate a percentage of their profits to a Girls Inc. of NYC. WICE will once again match their contribution.
